"Reaction from Fox News correspondent-at-large Geraldo Rivera and criminal defense attorney Jonna Spilbor."

Fox News correspondent-at-large Geraldo Rivera accused the New York federal judge presiding over Ghislaine Maxwell’s case of "copping out to the mob" Tuesday after she denied the British socialite’s bail request as she awaits trial on sex trafficking charges."

Transcript:

Bill Hemmer - "You both thought she would be granted bail but that did not happen. Jonna what was the judge thinking?"

Jonna Spilbor, Criminal Defense Attorney:...Here’s what the judge was thinking. The judge did not have the courage to do what was really right in this case. Now I realize that the charges are egregious and horrendous - we get that. But if you are analyzing this without the notoriety of Jeffrey Epstein, if you are analyzing this just purely from the bench, if you put an electronic bracelet on her ankle, if you take all of her passports away, if you do the things that you would do in any other case, you reduce that extreme flight risk to no flight risk. But this judge did not see fit to do that and honestly I think this judge got it wrong.

Bill Hemmer: "Geraldo what do you think?"

Geraldo Rivera: "I think this was a political decision. Bill I agree absolutely with Jonna. I think that the question is not whether she committed these hideous offenses. The question is whether or not she would show up for trial. I mean she bought a house in New Hampshire, for goodness’ sakes. She went to all this trouble to stay in the country. They could take her passports, that’s standard operating procedure.. It doesn’t make any sense - prosecutors in the case are doing this to put pressure on her. They are punishing her before conviction. She has never been held liable in a civil suit, never been convicted of a crime. She is not Jeffrey Epstein. I think this is a terrible, punitive decision.”

Ghislaine Maxwell should be released: She should await her trial outside confinement By DAVID OSCAR MARKUS NEW YORK DAILY NEWS FEB 24, 2021 AT 11:00 AM

Convicted and punished without even a trial. (Sylvain Gaboury/Paul Bruinooge/Patrick McMullan)

“Respected Judge Rosemary Pooler who serves on the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in New York just wrote that [p]rologued solitary confinement is one of the true horrors of modern day penal system”. Pooler was describing a prison in Italy designed for members of the Mafia convicted of murder or tampering with witnesses. But those convicted inmates have more freedom than Ghislaine Maxwell who has been imprisoned without bond on 25 year old allegations which she adamantly denies, and who under the American system is presumed innocent”

…” Now she stands accused of serious crimes allegedly committed a quarter of a century ago. Like every other arrested person, she must be presumed innocent. Many in the public however, will presume her guilty because of the portrayal of her in the Netflix series about Jeffrey Epstein. But no one should believe anything they saw in that series, because it was based largely on the accounts of two women with histories of making dubious accusations.

THE MEGYN KELLY SHOW   INTERVIEW WITH ALAN DERSHOWITZ  ON VRG DROPPING HER CASE AGAINST HIM.

4 MINS 12 SEC.  Nov 8, 2022

MEGYN KELLY: I'm Megyn Kelly

There’s breaking news in the case. What is it ?

ALAN DERSHOWITZ:

Well I can now announce and I am very gratified to announce that Virginia Giuffre has agreed to dismiss all charges against me.  She now says and this is her own words, “she recognizes that she may have made a mistake in identifying me”; and so she’s dropped all the charges. She acknowledges that I have denied the charges from the very beginning. .. an admission from her that she may have made a mistake.  Now I’m bound not to go beyond the statements we agreed to but the statements we agreed to are pretty darn good from my point of view.

MEGYN KELLY: Well I mean the audience should know that it's obvious to me just as an attorney, that this is as much as she can possibly ever admit in a statement because she’s said repeatedly including under oath, something different from this. So you can’t come out and say “I lied. I lied while I was under oath” This is a pretty good statement for you to get as the defendant in her case.  So congratulations to you.
